I am Charles. A fun-loving, Christ-centred, Bible-believing husband and father. The greatest title I carry is “Dad,” and the greatest honour in my life is being a husband to one incredible woman. I do not just love my wife. I cherish her. I adore her. She has married me well. That is why I can speak about marriage with confidence and conviction.

Phyllis and I have been married for over 26 years. We are blessed with three wonderful biological children, and many more children of the heart.

My journey did not begin with fairy-tale romance. I was raised in a home where love was real but rarely spoken. The culture was patriarchal, so like many women of her generation, my mother was overworked, under-appreciated, and often left feeling unloved. The tension in the home was constant, and as a child I quietly wondered: What kind of marriage will I end up with? What kind of man will I become?

God, in His wisdom, moved me from my parents’ home to live with different families. Not through social services. There were none in Ghana. Some homes were better, some worse. Through it all, God was shaping me. I made a covenant with Him: “If You help me marry well, I will dedicate my life to helping others do the same.” 

When I met Phyllis, I shared this vision with her. She embraced it. She has stood with me every step of the way. There is no great husband without a great wife, and I am living proof. 

I am a scientist by profession, yet marriage is my calling. When I stand on the pulpit and teach about relationships and family, I come alive. By God’s grace, Phyllis and I have counselled countless couples over the years. Not every story ends in reconciliation. Sometimes the hurt arrives too late. Even then, we listen with empathy and never judge. Every couple deserves hope, support, and a safe place to be heard. 

Becoming an author was never part of my plan. Then I read a small but powerful book by E. W. Kenyon titled Signposts on the Road to Success. It opened my eyes to the treasures God places inside each of us. We are never just one thing. Inside every person is a preacher, a CEO, a writer, a musician, a counsellor. So I started writing. I wrote the life I was already living. Today, to the glory of God, I am the author of three books:

That is me. A husband, father, scientist, author, speaker, and counsellor who loves Jesus and loves marriage. 

I cannot finish without my hobbies. I am a football and Formula 1 fanatic. My football team always stresses me. They break my heart, but you never change your team. I believe the Premier League title is coming home to the red and white side of North London. You already know the team. Arsenal! Go on you Gunners!

I love books too. I read and read. My favourite book is the Bible. After that, give me any book on marriage and I am happy.
